Mary Patton is a Policy Reform Activist & Marketing Consultant to the Cannabis Industry. Since the early 1990’s, Mary has been living her passion through her long professional history in the entertainment industry, while simultaneously championing cannabis policy reform as an outspoken advocate for change. In her early years, fighting for cannabis freedom was a side project, done in her off-time from her busy career working in entertainment marketing positions with notable companies such as 102.5 KZOK-FM Radio Seattle, The Oprah Winfrey Show, Bill Kurtis Productions, Live Marketing, Rhino Entertainment, and Amoeba Music. However, as cannabis reform movement gained momentum she decided to devote herself to the cannabis community full time.
From her humble beginnings as a volunteer at legalization rallies in the Midwest in the late 80’s, to a lucky meeting with Vivian McPeak in the early 90’s where she contributed to the early days of Seattle Hempfest, Mary has been on a mission to improve cannabis laws. Harnessing the power of the entertainment industry as a platform to influence public perceptions whenever possible, eventually led her to positions with The Marijuana Policy Project, Governor Gary Johnson’s Our America Initiative and his 2012 Presidential Campaign, where she continued to put high profile celebrities and influential leaders in the spotlight to amplify the message of sensible policy reform.
Mary continues to do her part to advance cannabis freedom and nurture a healthy and responsible cannabis industry. In recent years Mary has contributed expertise and consulted on projects for various non-profit groups and cannabis industry leaders including Futurola, Kushy Punch Medical Edibles, The ArcView Group, Grand Daddy Genetics, Harm Reduction Productions, Buddhafest, Deep Green Festival, BG MedTech, Prop 19 Campaign, and The Coalition for Cannabis Policy Reform, among many others.
